Project the Third- Chop and Transpose

This project called for taking a long sustained note and putting it through the chopper, then transposing it for another pattern. i originally did this with a chorus sound, but it sounded really annoying in the high parts. the main body worked, though, so i looked and found a nice violin sound that fit much more smoothly. I looked around for sounds to augment it, and found a type of orion string sound that at first just sounded cool, but i ended up making a really nice melody line with it. at this point, i wanted a background sound, so i hunted down a couple of piano sounds, and eventually chose the ELEPIANO. it fit the sound, i fixed the tempo, and Voila! this is the end result, one of my favorites so far.

  1. The beginning was solid, but then when you added the other parts in, it sounds like the second two parts are fighting for the melody. And maybe you could have brought the originally part down some when the other parts were coming in. I was almost as if the first part was a short kid, and the second and third parts were tall kids the same height, and they're all fighting over the main part. This was the best explanation I could come up with so try to take it seriously, (because I think it's kinda funny)

  2. this sounded like some strange sci-fi something-or-other...or some theme to a video game (which doesn't surprise me w/you). The first sound that comes in sets a nice backup tone, and it's awesome that put in the violin :-). The melody lines are great, but kinda confusing to the ear because there's a handful of them! On your next project, try putting in a more basic backup line (drums, maybe?) to pair w/the lighter "waw-waw" sound you first put in. This one sounded pretty cool...keep up the good work!!! <3

  3. I agree with the other two posts. the original waw-waw theme is difficult for any other parts to compete with. It's a very assertive part. That said, the other parts do work together. There is tension and release, and there's a form to the music, and I like the melody. I would suggest drums. This tune is missing some kind of pulse, and I think a simple 4 beat kick thing would be enough to fill in the missing gaps.
